THE KOLOPHON เดอะ โคโลฟอน คำนี้มีความหมาย
โคโลฟอน (Kolophon) มาจากคำในภาษากรีก มีเรื่องเล่าว่า สมัยที่ยังเก็บข้อมูลต่างๆ ด้วยการสลักลงบนแผ่นหิน นานเข้าก็มีปริมาณมากจนต้องจัดหมวดหมู่ของข้อมูลด้วยการเพิ่มหัวเรื่องลงไปเป็นการปิดงานบันทึกแต่ละชุดในทางโบราณคดี โคโลฟอน นับเป็นการจัดทำบัญชีรายชื่อคลังข้อมูลห้องสมุดยุคแรกๆ
โคโลฟอน จึงมีความหมายสั้นๆว่า “การปิดท้าย” หรือการทำสิ่งสุดท้ายก่อน “ปิดงาน” อีกทั้งคำนี้ยังเป็นรากของศัพท์ภาษาอังกฤษว่า คอลโลฟอน (Colophon) ซึ่งเป็นศัพท์ที่ใช้ในวงการสิ่งพิมพ์ หมายถึงหน้าลิขสิทธิ์และข้อมูลสำนักพิมพ์ในหนังสือ เราจึงตั้งใจใช้คำนี้เพื่อสื่อถึง การปิดจบความฝัน ความคิด เริ่มก้าวต่อไปด้วยคลังข้อมูลที่จะช่วยพัฒนาสิ่งที่คิดฝันให้เป็นจริง

What is The Kolophon?
“Kolophon” โคโลฟอน is a Greek word meaning “a finishing touch” and is the mother word for the English “colophon” คอลโลฟอน signifying an imprint/copyright page of a book. Historically and archaeologically, a kolophon is the origin of a library catalogue. The Kolophon bears the hallmark of what we stand for — a smart information center, human-scale research capacity, both analog and digital, that feeds you with ideas and answers your questions intelligently, allowing you to make sound decisions.
The Kolophon is an engine that helps to drive our book business model in the 21st century. Much like a subscription service, it is a full hybridization of libraries and bookstores.
